About the Low Frequency Oscillators

Low Frequency Oscillators (LFOs) are used to automate the motion of sliders and controllers. For example, choosing the 'frequency offset' item in the menu causes the 'freq offset' slider to move continuously back and forth, highlighting different overtones.

The 'period' dial can be set between 50 and 5000 ms (1/20 of a second to 5 seconds). This specifies the time over which the oscillator completes one full period. Longer times can be chosen by directly editing the numberbox.

The dial marked 'amplitude' specifies how far the destination slider will move each cycle. The range of this number changes depending on which slider is being controlled. A setting of zero means that no motion occurs.

Choose the dial to animate using the small green menu, and set the period and amplitude. Press the 'on/off' toggle and the destination slider will move back and forth. The sound changes exacly as if you were manually moving the dial.

The LFO can be applied to any of the destination dials/controllers in the pull down menu: this specifies which controller is automated by the current settings.

Though there is only one set of period/amplitude parameters in the interface, you can automate as many dials as desired. For example, while the 'frequency offset' dial is automated, choose the 'depth' destination. Change the period and amp and then press the green button again. Both dials are now automated, each with its own period and amplitude.

Pressing the 'all off' button turns off all the assigned LFOs.
