What if there's no sound? Go to:

Applications/MaxMSP Runtime/Cycling '74/patches/editors (on a Mac)

C:/Program Files/Cycling '74/MaxMSP 4.6/Cycling '74/patches/editors (on a PC)

and drag "DSP Status" to the Max runtime icon to open it. Turn audio on and choose your favorite audio driver.

What if the sound stutters?

In the DSP status window (see above), try different values for "signal vector" and "I/O vector" size. Generally, larger values cause less strain on the CPU. Or, if your audio hardware allows it, you can try reducing the sample rate: some machines that stutter at 44100 work well at 32000.
